We breed for health and temperament

Our breeding program is focused on health and temperament, and we always want our rats to stay pet rats. We only breed one or two litters per year.

It’s very important to us to ensure that our rats find the best pet homes possible.

Rats live very short lives and need the best nutrition to ensure longevity.

We keep five + generations of pedigrees or bloodlines with detailed records.

We want to help you to give your rats the best care possible with our rat care guides.

Pet rat adoptions

At Cape Town Rattery, our mission is to prioritize the health, happiness, and well-being of our pet rats by promoting responsible breeding practices and providing loving homes with healthy, well-tempered pets.

We breed one to two litters a year, and we mostly breed to continue our lines and keep exceptional pet rats for ourselves. We do sometimes have pet rats available for adoption, and we do keep a waiting list of dedicated, approved pet owners to ensure that we always have homes for babies before we breed a litter.

If you want to get a pet rat from us, please take a look at the process on the right and complete the application form as soon as you’re ready. Once we’ve received your application, we’ll let you know if you have been added to the waiting list.
